New Projects
Every year, I bring a group of quilters to Verona, Italy, for the international textile event, Verona Tessile. See the blog (March posts) for pictures from 2011.
Next trip is March 2013. Click below for more information.
I am planning another trip to Umbria, Italy for September 2013 for 10 days of textile fun! Classes, exhibits, touring, great food and italian hospitality plus a day trip to Rome and another to Viterbo. Click here for information.
At the moment, I am working on a quilt book to be published by Copia in Colla (Verona, Italy)- see a test picture (right) by Heidi Leverty. It will be about using up fabric scraps and making fun, fast quilts without buying any new fabric! What joy to make room for new fabric purchases! Check here later for details on the launch scheduled for 2012.
Ad Maiora Canada is a new club I have started. It is a branch of a group in Verona which I am a member of. Like our sister group, we are open-minded people who meet regularly to sew and network. We organize textile exhibits and participate in outreach programs. One of our projects for this year is a contribution of children’s quilts for the Diabetes Association in the Cayman Islands. We will be donating 5 blue coloured quilts and our sister group from Italy will be donating 5 as well. The executive is taking applications. For more details, please email sandra.reford@sympatico.ca
I will be curating a textile exhibit for the 18th Carrefour Europeén du Patchwork, in Val D’Argent, France, September 13 -16, 2012. The quilts and textile art works will represent what is going on in Canada at this time.
